20TH ANNIVERSARY
AND VACATION 2012

And a patriotic one at that!
We left early Thursday morning on the day of our anniversary August 30th, 2012 and drove to our friends house in Hudson Colorado to get a ride to the airport. We flew on Southwest Airlines from Denver to Washington DC. Mary was there 30 years ago but Lee had never been there. We met a nice couple on the plane from DC so they showed us how to get public transportation from Dulles INT airport to the HYATT REGENCY HOTEL on Capitol Hill. We got a room at the Hyatt Regency a block from the capitol. As we were checking in the Girl at the counter asked what brought us to DC so we told her it was our 20th and we weren't in our room for more than 5 minutes when we recieved a nice bottle of wine and special glasses and a note. That was a very nice touch. Lee had made reservations at the Bistro Bis about a block away and we had a very fine dinner.

We visited all the monuments we could find and even got to see the art gallery and the Smithsonian Castle and the air and space Museum. We saw the American indian exhibit, the art and sculpture museum, the USDA building, about 250 cops, a dozen or better souvenier shops, and even a McDonalds, the Red Cross building and didn't even get the chance to throw rocks at the Teamsters building. We walked several miles, saw the White House and noticed the White House lawn was in horrible shape. The great thing about the National mall is that all the museums are free. The Lincloln Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial are lee's favorites. Had a wonderful dinner at the Hyatt, a few drinks and got up the next Morning and headed to the airport to rent a car to get along with our trip.

We rented a nice little Focus at Dulles airport and headed out to Pennsylvania to a wonderful resort in Bedford PA. called The Omni Bedford Springs Resort Lee's sister in law Wava works there and what a beautiful place it is. The place is 200 years old and was completely restored in 2007 and they did a super job. The room was excellent and then again (I think Wava arranged this) we recieved chocolate covered Strawberries and sparkling sping water for our celebration. We had stoped at Earl and Wava's house to see how the new house was going and Earl rode with us to the Resort. They have the best bar, restaurants, and pools I've ever seen. We went to dinner with Earl and Wava and the dinner was excellent! Everything went perfect. We swam, hiked, drank, ate and totally enjoyed and over did everything on our stay! We stayed three nights and headed back to the airport and flew home to our waiting friends, Dennis and Sue ( who I'm sure missed us greatly!) went to dinner and went home. What a great trip!!
