 DAD'S NEW RIDE  LEE & MARY BOUGHT A 1973 MERCURY MARQUIS WITH ONLY 26,000 ORIGINAL MILES. THE IDEA WAS TO GET IT TO PALM SPRINGS CALIFORNIA AND GIVE IT TO LEE'S DAD, BUT DAD WAS SO EXCITED HE CAME OUT EARLY AND WE PRESENTED IT TO HIM FOR A BIRTHDAY PRESENT. |

| THE STORY, THE WHOLE STORY, & NOTHING BUT THE STORY! Dad left Palm Springs Feb 5th on the Greyhound Bus & showed up in Longmont on Thursday Feb. 6th (25 hours). We all jumped in the Sable at 6 A.M. the 7th and drove to the farm in Missouri (750 miles). We celebrated Dad's birthday on Saturday , the 8th. We checked out the farm and then rode back in a Semi truck with the Sable Wagon on a flatbed on the 9th. Quite the adventure for Dad! He stuck around in Longmont for about a week and took off in his new ride on Sunday Feb. 16th. He drove to Grand Junction Colorado (275 miles) for a visit with his sister Merle. He called and said the car ran and drove "like a new one". He stayed in Grand Junction until Sunday the 23rd and then cruised on 500 miles to Las Vegas to his neice's home (Cheryl) without a hitch. He left for Palm springs (275 miles) on Monday morning the 24th. He arrived safely there in the mid-afternoon and said the Old Merc performed flawlessly. Happy 78th Birthday Dad!! |
